{Update, MOPS Fundraiser, & Custom Photography}

I bet you were wondering where I have been & why I haven't been updating by blog on a regular basis?  It's not that I haven't been busy doing photo-shoots, because this blog is about to explode with family shoots!  in fact; it's because I am so busy that I can't keep up with it all!  Anyhow, I thoroughly enjoyed our vacation in Las Vegas (post on that soon...).  I am back now and just playing catch-up on everything I neglected for a week.

First things first... we have the MOPS fundraiser this Saturday (October 16th) & Sunday (October 17th) and I still have a couple more slots open for Saturday morning & Sunday evening.  Contact me if you would like to get signed-up.  I have also opened up a new date for those of you who couldn't make it for this weekend's fundraiser.  So those of you who would like, I have now opened up Sunday, October 24th evening sessions.  I have a few spots left, so hurry!

And lastly, I was supposed to speak on this subject last Thursday at MOPS, but left sick.  So, I thought I would touch on this subject a little for those of you who aren't as familiar with Custom Photography.  A lot of people are curious as to why it cost more than the average studio.  For one, you are getting what you pay for.  Studio photography tends to be a quick 10-15 minute, stand there and smile, backdrop setting.  Then you will have a few photos to choose from (5-7 total).  None of the photos you are getting are color-corrected, nor are they enhanced in any way.  It's basically what I call the "fast-food" of the photography business.  Custom photography is much different in the sense that it is a one-on-one, relaxed, outdoor atmosphere.  You are paying the photographer for their talent at the shoot and they are spending the time with you to make sure you walk away with artistic and personal images that best reflect you & your family.  Not only am I spending the extra time with you, but I am experienced & have top of the line equipment.  Anyone can take your photo, but choosing someone who really understands aperture & exposure will definitely make a huge difference on how your final images will look.  In short, you must have a good image (Straight out of camera) in order to have a quality finished product. Which brings me to editing... I spend lots of my time making sure every photo I edit looks it's very best.  I remove unwanted blemishes, make skin smooth and creamy, bring out colors to make them bold & pop, and overall enhance & sharpen the photo.  Some people think you can fix anything with editing, but again, you must have a good quality picture to begin with.  Otherwise, there isn't much editing will do to help the photo.  So again, you are really paying for what you get with Custom Photography.  If you would like to know more about it, you can read all about it HERE.

To give you a better idea, I have taken a couple of photos to demonstrate what a picture looks like unedited (straight out of the camera), side-by-side with the fully edited version.
