Kimberly Nicole - 6 Years Old (almost...)

6 years ago today was my daughter, Kimberly's due date...

If you had told me 6 years ago I would be about to have a baby, I wouldn't have believed you.  As much as Danny & I wanted to have kids someday and start a family, it wasn't anytime soon - so we thought.  We had plans to open our business in the summer of 2005 & new to the area, I had just started a new job in an ortho office.  Life was good - there weren't much worries & Danny and I were just enjoying being married.  It wasn't until I started really feeling sick that I thought anything of it, and low and behold, I was pregnant.  YIKES - this wasn't in the plans!  I wasn't sure how far along I was & when I went in for our first sonogram it showed an actual baby - with arms & legs!  I was expecting a little dot, but no, it was indeed a tiny baby girl who was already 14 weeks old.  Not being a planned pregnancy, there was so much to take in - I was going to be having a baby come summertime & I was in total shock.  But, getting to see my baby for the first time put all my anxious thoughts aside.  I was in awe - what a beautiful thing getting to see your baby for the first time move around and kick.  And with that, I fell in love.

Kimberly Nicole has been such a delight & we are so thankful that God gave her to us, and that His plans were bigger & greater than our plans.  I remember feeling anxious & a little impatient waiting for the birth of my new baby daughter and when her due date (July 1, 2005) came and went, I was a little frustrated and to be honest, ready to be done with the whole pregnancy thing.  Again, God had His own plans and with that Kimberly Nicole was born 13 days later.  She has been such a joy & I just love her to bits.  Every year, right before her birthday I do a photo-shoot that is "all about Kimberly".  Because we will be spending her birthday this year at The Monterey Bay Aquarium (per her request), we opted to do the shoot way ahead of time.  We spent this last weekend in Sonora enjoying time with family, friends, fishing, the fresh air, and a movie under the stars.  Right across the street from my in-laws house is an apple orchard, which was the perfect setting for the photo-shoot at sunset.   Kimberly was so excited about her shoot & tickled pink that she got to wear a Maddie Lu hair piece while enjoying a Grapefruit bubbly Izze.  Here are just a few of my favorites from our shoot together & it wouldn't have been what it was without the help of her Daddy standing behind me making her laugh.  We look forward to printing some of these images & hanging them on the walls of our home!

Pssst...WINNER of this gorgeous hair piece is at the bottom of this post.  Thanks for all the entries!

And the winner is:

Megan Shepard!

These are precious! I also especially loved what you wrote. I was wondering if you did this whole shoot with the 100 mm? I really like how you got the sun glow too:)
